Teen has fractured ribs, hole in lung and bullet lodged in liver after graduation party shooting

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – One of the most violent nights in the history of Chesterfield County happened Friday night when agraduation party turned into a mass casualty incidentwhere the exact numbers of victims were changing by the minute.

For first responders, the response was “all hands on” to come to Chester no matter where they were on patrol.

The orders were given to Chesterfield Police officers as they responded to shots fired outside of a house party on Stepney Road just after 10:20 p.m.

Police said more than 50 shots were fired from four different caliber of guns.

A 20-year-old man pronounced dead at the scene while five others had gunshot wounds and two partygoers had injuries while they were fleeing the firepower.

Police said the shooting victims ranged in age from 16 to 20.

Crime Insider Jon Burkett spoke with the mother of an 18-year-old shooting victim.

She said that while her son is stable, he has fractured ribs, a hole in his right lung and a bullet lodged in his liver.

The mom is left shaken by the violence.

The volley of gunfire was captured on Ring camera footage obtained by Burkett.

Officers asked residents in the Stepney area to submit any footage they think may be helpful to the police investigation.
