RICHMOND, Va. -- High temperatures will surge into the mid and upper 90s this afternoon. The heat index, or how it feels when you combine the temperature with the humidity, will be near or above 100° in most areas until around sundown. This will be the hottest day since we hit 100° on June 23.
A cold frontal passage will temper the heat slightly Friday through Sunday.
