HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A Henrico mother and her teenage daughter are desperate for help after the pair said they were attacked by a gang of mostly females in the hallway outside their apartment. The girl's mother said she was protecting her 15-year-old daughter, who appeared to be the reason the teenagers showed up at the family's apartment at the Treehouse Apartment Homes off of Pony Farm Drive.
"I was cut right here with the razor and right here," Shakyra Herbin said. "There wasn't no questions asked, they just punched her in her face."
Herbin's daughter, Shanera, said that she had to miss a week of school because of the injuries she sustained to her arm in the melee. Herbin told WTVR CBS 6 she believed she was targeted because of the way she walked and her lack of the popular Air Jordan shoes.
"They say they don't like the way I walk and they told me that I need to start wearing more Jordans and I said, 'I don't need Jordans to fit in,'" Shanera Herbin said.
The Herbins told WTVR CBS the group has threatened to return on Friday and fight again.
"We are terrified," Shakyra Herbin said. “They rode past and said they would be back Friday."
No security cameras captured the alleged assault. At this point, the family is hoping for information that would lead to the arrest of the teens.
"Where are these kids parents that they can walk around and terrorize people just because," Tenis Murdock, Herbin's grandmother, questioned.
According to police, an incident report has been started on the attack, but was incomplete at last check. If you have information that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
