AMELIA COUNTY, Va. -- A 20-year-old Crewe woman was killed when the pick-up truck she was in crashed on Route 609 (Grub Hill Church Road) north of Route 360 in Amelia Friday night. Jessica B. Bowling, 20, died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The pick-up truck driver, 22-year-old Ryan B. Spangler, of Midlothian, was charged with DUI, according to police. He was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt in the crash.

"A 1986 GMC pickup was traveling north on Route 609 when it ran off the road right striking a tree, then ran of the left side of the road and overturning," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said about the crash. "Speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash."

The crash remained under investigation. Anyone with addition information about the crash or the victim  can email that information here.
