SHORT PUMP, Va. — The Children’s Museum of Richmond is on the move, again. Five years after opening a satellite location at West Broad Village in Short Pump, the Children’s Museum will close that location and move into Short Pump Town Center.
“When we were presented the opportunity to relocate the museum to the region’s top shopping destination, we jumped at the chance,” Lisa Wingfield Hailey, interim president and CEO at the Children’s Museum of Richmond, said. “We feel that this move offers better parking options and extended hours, along with the ability to create new learning environments for children age eight and under, all in a convenient location.”
The Children’s Museum of Richmond at Short Pump Town Center will be located under the Food Court and should be opened by this summer.
The 8,500-square-foot location will include:
- The CarMax Foundation Service Station
- The Silver Diner
- A grocery store
- A performance stage and an art studio
- A giant Light Bright Wall
- An interactive EyePlay Floor projector
- A special display area developed in partnership with the MathScience Innovation Center
“We are excited about the partnership between Short Pump Town Center and the Children’s Museum of Richmond and feel it is a perfect fit for our center,” E. Kemel Blue, vice president/general manager of Short Pump Town Center, said. “The museum will give us the opportunity to further enhance the overall experience by offering additional family-friendly amenities for our guests.”
