RICHMOND, Va. -- Heat and humidity will be the main story again today, with a few scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. The high will be in the mid 90s, with a heat index around 101 this afternoon.

Post-tropical Laura will move through Virginia on Saturday, bringing us the potential for a few severe thunderstorms. The main threats will be damaging winds and a few tornadoes. The timing will be between Noon and 5pm. A cold front will sweep through the area Saturday night, bringing beautiful weather to the area on Sunday.

Our dry weather will likely be short-lived, as showers and storms will return to the area Monday through Thursday. Other than Laura, there are no significant tropical disturbances in the Atlantic Basin.
