and last updated

RICHMOND, Va. -- Skies will be partly cloudy overnight across most of the area, with a few showers to the west coming to an end. Lows will range from the mid 50s to around 60°.

Sunday will be partly sunny and pleasant. Afternoon highs will average in the upper 70s to around 80°. A few showers and maybe a thunderstorm will pop up in the mountains again during the afternoon.

An area of low pressure will stall to our south and southwest for much of the coming week. This will keep things unsettled with scattered storm chances each day. Rain chances will be low north of I-64, and the highest rain chances will be near the North Carolina border. Highs will remain in the 70s through midweek, with lows 55-60.

Temperatures in the 80s will return by the end of the week and it will turn hot next weekend. Highs on Saturday should reach the low 90s. By the way, the summer solstice occurs on Saturday!
