RICHMOND, Va. -- Cold and dry air will continue to move into the region behind a powerful storm system moving through the Northeast U.S. tonight. Friday will feature more cloud cover, and even a chance for a few sprinkles or flurries, as an upper-level system tracks through the area. Sunny and cold weather is expected on Saturday, followed by a modest warm-up on Sunday. The warm-up will accelerate early next week as deep southwesterly flow develops in the region. Highs will reach the mid 60s on Monday, with 70s likely on Tuesday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible late Monday into Tuesday. Cooler weather will return to the area late next week.
