RICHMOND, Va. -- There will be a general increase in the clouds overnight, with a few showers around, mainly south of Richmond. Lows will be in the upper 50s and low 60s.

An area of low pressure will be near the region much of the coming week. This will keep a lot of clouds around and bring an increasing threat for rain. That, combined with an easterly wind, will keep temperatures below normal through Friday.

The highest rain chances Monday will be to the south and southwest of Richmond. A stray shower or two may make it into the metro area later in the day. Rain chances will then ramp each day, with more numerous showers and a few thunderstorms likely Wednesday and Thursday.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to be in the 70s much of the week, reaching the 80s on Friday. Next weekend will turn hot, with highs in the low and mid 90s. Highs on Saturday should reach the low 90s. By the way, the summer solstice occurs on Saturday!
