RICHMOND, Va. -- The pickup driver charged in a double fatal crash on Thanksgiving has been denied bond.

A Manchester General District Court judge, after hearing arguments from both the Commonwealth and Defense, made that decision Friday.

Ryann Daniels, 25, was charged with two counts of Involuntary Manslaughter for the deaths of Karen Murphy and Kevin Hancock.

Richmond police said he ran a red light Thanksgiving night, colliding with Murphy and Hancock’s SUV at the intersection of Brookland Park Boulevard and Chamberlayne Avenue.

Daniels was arrested one week after the crash in North Carolina.

In a release, Richmond Police said deputies responded to a report of Daniels at a home in Currituck County. But when deputies got to the home, Daniels ran into a wooded area on the backside of the property.

A K-9 unit tracked him down and took him into custody, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. Police have not yet said whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Daniels is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 7.
