Man charged with attempted murder in Mechanicsville Turnpike shooting

RICHMOND, Va. – A man has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a Mechanicsville Turnpike shooting earlier this month.

Richmond Police responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike at approximately 7:16 p.m., on February 13.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man inside a store suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police say the shooting occurred just outside the store. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury.

Detectives arrested 38-year-old Deangelo Hunt, of Henrico, and charged him with attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
