Person struck, killed crossing Jefferson Davis Highway

RICHMOND, Va. -- A person was struck and killed while crossing Jefferson Davis Highway in Chesterfield on Monday.

Police said the driver of a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling south on Jefferson Davis Highway when they struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the road.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where they died as a result of their injuries.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene.

The area, in the 6500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway Southbound, remained closed for hours following the crash.

Police continue their investigation into this incident.
