CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police have charged a 24-year old man whose car crashed into the Goddard School, a preschool on North Woolridge Road, Monday. Michael J. West was charged with reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, a Chesterfield Police spokeswoman said.
West told CBS 6 he passed out while driving. He said when he came to, he hit the school. He said he passed out after he got into a fight with his girlfriend and had an anxiety attack. He added he was thankful everyone was okay and that his three children were not in the car when he crashed.
The owner of the Goddard School said things were "business as usual" Tuesday. Crews spent Monday night repairing the inside corner where the car hit the building.
