RICHMOND, Va. -- The intersection of Chamberlayne and Azalea Avenues was shutdown Friday morning due to a ruptured gas line.
Officials said a construction crew working on Chamberlayne clipped a valve on the gas line. As a result, residents reported the telltale rotten-egg smell that indicates a natural gas leak.
Businesses near the intersection were evacuated as a precaution.
