PETERSBURG, Va. -- Police identified the man shot and killed on Hinton Street in Petersburg Sunday night as 25-year-old Terrell Hobson. The Petersburg man was one of three men shot that evening. The other two shooting victims remained hospitalized.

Police have not yet gone public with suspects, nor motives and are still "sorting out events leading to the shootings," Petersburg Police spokeswoman Esther Hyatt said.

"Large crowds of people gathered both at the scene and at the local hospital and Petersburg Police requested assistance in the form of mutual aid from neighboring jurisdictions with responses from Virginia State Police, Dinwiddie, Prince George and Colonial Heights," Hyatt added Tuesday. "Measures were put in place to ensure increased security of both the neighborhood and the hospital."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Petersburg Dinwiddie Crime Solvers at 804-861-1212. Anyone with a news tip about the shooting can submit it here.
