HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Richmond's newest grocery chain store opens Thursday, April 23 in Henrico's West End and Colonial Heights. The ALDIs at 1776 North Parham Road in Henrico and 465 Charles H. Dimmock Parkway in Colonial Heights are the first two of five ALDI stores in Central Virginia. ALDI bills itself as the nation’s lowprice grocery leader.
"We look forward to introducing Richmond shoppers to ALDI, where they can find the majority of their average weekly shopping list from our exclusive brand products – including fresh meats, fruits, vegetables and bakery items – for up to 50 percent less," Jeff Baehr, Frederick division vice president for ALDI, said in a statement. "We are committed to bringing ALDI customers the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices in a simple and easy-to-navigate shopping environment."
There are currently 1,400 ALDI stores in 32 states nationwide. In addition to the Parham Road and Dimmock Parkway stores, a third store, on Shenandoah Village Drive in Waynesboro, will open this spring. Additional stores in Mechanicsville and Henrico are planned for later this year.
Following Thursday's 9 a.m. grand openings in Henrico and Colonial Heights, ALDI will hand out "golden tickets" to the first 100 shoppers. Those tickets contain ALDI gift certificates of various amounts. The new ALDI stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. ALDI accepts cash, debit and EBT/Quest cards. No credit cards are accepted.
