HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Duck Donuts opened for business Monday morning at The Shops at Willow Lawn in Henrico.
The Outer Banks-based doughnut maker shared its first batch of doughnuts on its Facebook page.
It was on Facebook, back in July, Duck announced it would soon be coming to Richmond.
“We chose to bring Duck Donuts to the Richmond market because of the interest that’s been expressed by our consumers on social media and through our website,” Duck Donuts Richmondfranchiseeowner Keith Exton previously said in a statement. “Willow Lawn stood out as a great location for our first store due to the proximity of the shopping center to downtown Richmond as well as the West End.”
Duck enters are crowded doughnut environment with the recent West End expansions of local shops like Sugar Shack and Country Style, not to mention national chains like Dunkin’ Donuts and Kripsy Kreme.
