HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — One adult, two children and several pets escaped an early-morning house fire in Hanover. One person was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

The cause of the fire along the 19000 block of Landora Bridge Road in the Beaverdam remained under investigation Tuesday morning.

When Hanover fire crews arrived at the home, at about 6 a.m., they found heavy smoke pouring from the home’s second floor.

The Red Cross is helping the family find a place to stay.

This is a developing story.
