CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. - Natasha Inge says the death of her 2 year old niece Mikayla has taken a huge piece of her heart.

It's a tragedy she says her family is struggling with. Police arrested Tabitha Inge, Natasha's sister, and charged her with  felony child neglect after her two-year-old daughter died in a car window.

Natasha agreed to speak with CBS 6 News with hopes of sharing the story as she knows it about her sister Tabitha and what happened the night Mikayla died.

Chesterfield Police say that the 2-year-old girl's head got trapped between a car window and the door frame when she was left unattended in her mom's car.

Tabitha Inge is now charged with one count of felony child neglect.

Natasha says her sister did visit a friend at the Parkway Mobile Home park on Tuesday night.

Neighbors reported Inge stopped by to style someone's hair, but loved ones dispute that.

"It is false. It makes her sound like a monster and she is not a monster. She loved them dearly. She is a wonderful loving mother," Natasha said. "My niece's father loved her more than anything. It's a horrible tragedy and we are trying to be strong and we need people to know before you go judging people you don't know the whole story."

She says her family believes what happened to Mikayla was a terrible accident.

In court on Friday, Tabitha Inge asked the judge if she could be released to attend her daughter's funeral.

The judge has not yet made a decision.

The 28-year-mom also told the judge she planned on hiring her own attorney.

Tabitha Inge is due back in court on July 7th at 2 p.m.
