RICHMOND, Va. -- The transition zone from rain to mix to snow will continue moving southward this morning Some snow accumulation will occur, especially north of I-64. Many areas across central VA will see 1-3", with some pockets of 4" possible. As warmer air moves in higher up in the atmosphere, we will see the snow change to some sleet and freezing rain overnight intothis morning. Light ice accumulation will be possible. Winter weather advisories are in effect for the entire area tonight into midday Friday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Precipitation will turn more spotty after daybreak Friday. There will be some batches of drizzle or freezing drizzle in the afternoon. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s.

Another system will bring more wintry weather on Saturday. Some scattered light freezing rain is possible in the morning, with periods of freezing rain likely Saturday afternoon and evening. This is looking like the potential for an ice storm with decent ice accumulation on untreated surfaces. Highs will be in the lower 30s.

Much of Sunday will be dry with highs in the lower 40s. A few scattered rain showers are possible towards evening.

Yet another wintry event looks to be on tap for late Monday into the first half of Tuesday. This may also be freezing rain through Tuesday morning. Temperatures should warm into the upper 30s and lower 40s in the afternoon, with plain rain expected.

Wednesday will be dry with highs in the mid 40s. Another system could give us wintry weather on Thursday.
