Flash flooding will continue to be a concern

RICHMOND, Va. -- A Flash Flood Watch will remain in effect for the entire area until late tonight, as showers and isolated storms continue to develop in the region. The air mass will remain unchanged on Friday, with more rain developing as heat builds during the day. An upper-level disturbance will bring an added element of lift to the region on Saturday into Sunday, with likely chances for rain in most of the area.

We'll finally get a break from the rain Monday and Tuesday, as chances for showers and storms will be much lower. The pattern will become a little more favorable for rain by the middle and end of next week.

Tropical Storm Josephine formed this morning, becoming the earliest "J" storm on record. Josephine will likely maintain tropical storm strength for a few days, but should weaken to a depression thereafter as both wind shear and dry air interact with the cyclone.
