RICHMOND, Va. -- High pressure will slide east of the area today, allowing southerly winds to resume. Highs today will reach the mid 50s with a few high clouds moving into the area in the afternoon.

Expect increasing cloud cover tomorrow, with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon and evening. Rain chances will increase overnight, with periods of moderate to heavy rain possible early Saturday. The rain will taper Saturday afternoon and evening, leaving us with dry and cool conditions Sunday.

Colder than normal conditions are likely through the first half of next week, as a troughing (low pressure)pattern over the eastern U.S. becomes established.

As of this morning, there are no strong signals for snow in the Piedmont and Tidewater over the next week to 10 days.
