RICHMOND, Va. -- Today will start with a lot of sunshine, with cloud cover gradually increasing ahead of a strong storm system. The high will be in the upper 70s.

Rain will develop and overspread the region Friday as the upper-level trough and cold front swings through the Mid-Atlantic. Temperatures will fall throughout the day Friday as cooler air rushes into Virginia. The rain will end before sunrise Saturday, with cool sunshine during the day. Sunday will be mostly sunny and mild, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

Seasonal weather is expected early next week under variably cloudy skies.

There is still just one weak disturbance in the tropics, and little development is expected over the next several days.
