Muggy today with scattered showers and storms around

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. -- It will be a muggy day with variable cloudiness and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

There will be some scattered showers and storms around at times, but not all areas will see rain. Rain chances will be higher east of I-95 this afternoon. Localized heavy rainfall will occur, and poor-drainage flooding is possible where stubborn storms persist.

A piece of energy will move into western Virginia by sunset, and this will cause scattered storms from mid-evening through around midnight. Rain chances will be highest well west of I-95.

Tonight will be humid with areas of fog possible and lows 65-70°.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80s. It will turn less humid as the day wears on. An isolated shower is possible near the Bay.

Monday and Tuesday will have comfortable levels of humidity for summer. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 60s in many areas, but 50s will occur in our coolest outlying areas.

It will turn more humid for the middle and end of the week with a few storms possible.

Tropics: there are a few tropical waves in the central and eastern Atlantic, but none show any signs of decent development over the next few days.
