RICHMOND, Va. -- Tonight will be variably cloudy and cool, with fog developing toward morning. Expect fog to linger through the mid-morning hours Wednesday. Skies will become variably cloudy by midday, with temperatures reaching the low to mid 60s. The daylight hours will be dry for most of the Piedmont and Tidewater of Virginia, with a narrow line of showers and storms affecting the area Wednesday night. There is a low-end threat for a few severe wind gusts associated with this line. A strong cold front will move through the area Wednesday night bringing colder and windier conditions to the area on Thursday. A few flurries will be possible on Friday as upper-level energy rides through a deep eastern U.S. trough. Cold and dry conditions will remain in place through the upcoming weekend. Another storm system will bring a chance of rain to the area early next week.
