RICHMOND, Va. -- Rain will overspread the region tonight after dark, with rain likely in almost all areas of the Piedmont and Tidewater. The rain will taper during the morning on Tuesday, with mostly dry conditions in the afternoon. Another round of showers, and perhaps a few thunderstorms, will be possible on Wednesday. A strong cold front will move through the area Wednesday night, bringing much colder air to the region Thursday through the weekend. Energy will move through a strong upper-level trough in place over the region on Saturday, which could lead to a few flurries in the area. Temperatures will gradually moderate next week.
