RICHMOND, Va. -- Skies will become partly sunny this afternoon with a high in the lower 90s. A spot shower or storm is possible for the next few days.
A ridging pattern will develop today through Friday, bringing more heat and humidity to the region. Highs will reach the low 90s, with overnight lows staying in the low 70s.
No major disturbances or fronts will affect the area, but moderate instability from heat and humidity will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening. The heat index will reach the upper 90s and low 100s from late week through the weekend.
The hot and humid pattern will likely persist through at least the first half of next week.
Comet NEOWISE is now visible in the northwest sky close to the horizon in the evenings about 30-45 minutes after sunset.
