RICHMOND, Va. -- Today will be a hotter and more humid day, with highs in the low 90s and heat index values in the upper 90s and low 100s. Thunderstorms will develop by early afternoon and will move east-southeastward through the Piedmont and Tidewater through Friday evening.
The chance for additional storms over the weekend will be lower, but there will still be a chance each afternoon. The big story over the weekend and into early next week will be the combination of high heat and humidity that will yield dangerous heat index values. Temperatures in some areas will approach 100 degrees on Monday with a heat index nearing 110 degrees.
The heat and humidity will remain with us next week, with an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms. There are no significant tropical disturbances in the Atlantic Basin. Stay with CBS 6, The Weather Authority.
