RICHMOND, Va. -- Strong high pressure will continue to settle into the region tonight through Thursday, bringing our region the coldest conditions so far this season. Skies will gradually clear tonight, with lows in the low 30s. Wednesday will be sunny and cold, with many locations failing to reach 50 degrees despite full sunshine. Our coldest period will be Thursday morning, as temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s in most areas.
The air mass will modify Thursday through the weekend, with temperatures gradually exceeding daily averages. A few more clouds will be in our skies this weekend, but the forecast remains dry. Our next opportunity for rain will be on Monday, with a low chance for a few showers. The pattern becomes a little more complicated by the middle of next week, with seasonably cool weather a slight chance for rain around Thanksgiving.
Tropical Storm Iota will continue to weaken over Central America through Thursday. More info is in the CBS 6 Interactive Tropical Tracker.
