Cold sunshine to start the week

RICHMOND, Va. -- Monday will be mostly sunny, with afternoon highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Some moisture will be around early Tuesday morning, possibly resulting in some light freezing rain or drizzle. Be aware that this could cause some slick spots on area roads early in the morning. Temperatures will rise into the upper 40s and lower 50s during the day, with a few showers around.

Wednesday will be quieter, with variably to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 40s. Another system will bring the threat of a wintry mix on Thursday. As of now, it looks like it would mostly be rain and sleet, but some snow is possible north of Richmond. Temperatures are likely to be mainly in the 30s across the region. A few rain showers will linger into Friday.

Next weekend looks chilly right now, with highs mainly in the mid and upper 30s. There are signs we may have the threat of another coastal system to deal with later Saturday. Stay tuned as we look for more computer model consensus on this potential over the next few days.
