RICHMOND, Va. -- A strong storm system and associated cold front will move through the area tonight, bringing us a round of rainfall followed by much colder air.

The rain will come to an end a little after midnight, with breezy and cold conditions Saturday morning.

Saturday will be a chilly day with highs in the mid to upper 50s. A freeze is likely in many areas Sunday morning as high pressure settles over the region.

We'll see a gradual warming trend early next week, with much warmer air arriving by Friday.

The pattern favors the warmest air mass of the season to overspread Virginia Friday and Saturday, with many areas seeing their first 90-degree day of the year.
