RICHMOND, Va. -- Merry Christmas! The coldest air mass so far this season will continue to settle into the region, and with clearing skies and weakening winds, temperatures will fall into the teens and very low 20s Saturday morning. A wind chill advisory is in effect for western Virginia, where wind chill values could fall below zero for a few hours.
Saturday will be sunny and cold, with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. Sunday will be a little milder, with highs back into the mid and upper 40s.
We’ll reach the 50s on Monday, but another strong cold front will bring cold air into the area for next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Another powerful storm system will bring heavy rain to the area New Years Eve into early New Years Day.
