RICHMOND, Va. -- Shallow cold air will remain in place today, with considerable cloud cover and cool conditions. The highs only reaching the upper 40s and a few low 50s this afternoon.
A quick-moving disturbance will bring a round of rain and snow to the area tonight into the pre-dawn hours Thursday. Light accumulations of snow will be possible around Richmond, with slightly higher totals along the Virginia-North Carolina state line. All precip will end by dawn Thursday, with mostly sunny, windy, and cold conditions during the day.
Mostly sunny and cold weather will continue Friday and Saturday.
A storm system will spread moisture into the region Sunday, and with cold air in place, a wintry mix with minor snow and ice accumulations will be possible. The overall evolution of this system is being depicted in vastly different ways by the medium range models, but should become more clear in the next few days.
