RICHMOND, Va. -- Cooler and less humid air will be in the place through Tuesday morning, but then things will begin to heat up.

After highs in the 80s on Tuesday, highs will touch or break 90° in most locations away from the coast on Wednesday.

This will be the first 90° temperature at Richmond International Airport since last October.

We typically get our first 90° day by mid-May, but this year it will be June 3.

Highs will stay in the 85-90° range Thursday through next weekend.

June's outlook shows a decent chance of averaging above normal in terms of temperatures. This follows May, which had about 70% of the days with below normal highs, and two record lows in the 30s.

June rainfall looks to be near normal. In contrast, May rainfall was almost 1.90" below normal.

Here is what a typical June brings. The summer solstice occurs at 5:43 p.m. on June 20.
