Winning lotto ticket, sold at Virginia Walmart, expires soon

RICHMOND, Va. -- A lottery ticket worth $50,000 will expire March 12 if the winner does not come forward to claim the prize.

The ticket for the September 14, 2019, Powerball drawing was purchased at WalMart on Sliding Hill Road in Ashland.

"The ticket matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number," a Virginia Lottery spokesperson said. "Virginia Lotteryofficials have been waiting for the ticket to be presented so that the prize can be awarded. By law, winning tickets in Virginia expire 180 days after the drawing."

The winning numbers were: 11-27-31-36-67, Powerball number 11.

"Whoever has the winning ticket should contact the Virginia Lottery immediately or present the ticket at the nearest Virginia Lottery customer service center,"the spokesperson continued.

Any unclaimed lottery prizes go to Virginia’s Literary Fund.
