RICHMOND, Va. -- Officers are investigating a homicide after finding a man shot to death on Richmond's Southside early Sunday morning.

Richmond Police responded to the 00 block of West Clopton Street for the report of a person down just after 12:05 a.m.

"Once on scene, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," a police spokesperson said. "He was pronounced dead at the scene."

Officials said the Medical Examiner will determine the man's exact cause and manner of death.

The violence comes after a spate of shootings in Richmond Fright night into Saturday morning that left four people wounded, including a 17-year-old boy.
