PETERSBURG, Va. -- Trey Songz returned home to Petersburg on Wednesday to host a mural unveiling and block party.

Local artist Jason Ford just completed a mural of Songz which replicates photos from the his new album "Back Home."

The mural is located near Saucy's Barbecue on Bank Street.

CBS 6 talked to DJ Foot, a lifelong friend of Songz, who says the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter is always giving back to his community, including a three-day Black Lives Matter and COVID-19 relief event in June.

"For real for real... He put petersburg on the map. I mean he worked and he gives back to his city and community every day. I mean worldwide, I don't care where he is. He gives love all around the world," said Foot.

"Back Home" is currently the number one ranked R&B album on the Billboard chart this week.
