CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police are searching for two suspects involved in a robbery at a Mexican restaurant in Midlothian on June 13.

Police have identified and obtained warrants for Lazaro R. Avalos-Ortiz, 20, one of the two suspects who robbed the Mr. Pepe's restaurant at 10902 Hull Street Road

Police said the suspects, who were armed with firearms and knives, entered the closed restaurant at about 11:05 p.m. and found three employees in the kitchen area. After tying up the employees, they searched the restaurant and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects, described as Hispanic men, were last seen fleeing the area in a white sedan.

Detectives have determined that the vehicle used by the suspects had been carjacked by a known suspect shortly before the robbery.

Police believe that Avalos-Ortiz is one of the two suspects involved in the restaurant robbery. Detectives have obtained warrants for carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, abduction, four counts of robbery, three counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Avalos-Ortiz's last known address is in the 14100 block of Maria Drive.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts or the second suspect should contact Chesterfield County Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or through the P3 app.
