Shots fired, dozen casings found; car, garage hit in Hopewell neighborhood

HOPEWELL, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting in a Hopewell neighborhood Saturday evening left a car and a garage damaged.

Officers were called to the 3200 block of Courthouse Road just after 7:15 p.m. after callers reported hearing at least two different firearms being fired in the area.

Officials said police found a vehicle and a garage hit by "careless gunfire" as they canvassed the area.

"During the course of the investigation, seven 5.56 spent casings and five 9mm casings were recovered from the roadway in the 3200 block of Courthouse Road," officers said.

No one was injured, according to police.
