FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Search teams have so far been unsuccessful in their search for a kayaker who went missing on Virginia’s Rappahannock River.
A spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources told The Free Lance-Star that the search will start up again on Tuesday morning.
The male kayaker had left the Fredericksburg City Dock on Sunday with a female companion who was in another kayak.
The woman had trouble controlling her kayak in the river’s current. The man tried to help but his own kayak flipped.
The man was able to briefly hold on to his own kayak before letting go. The woman returned safely to shore.
