POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. -- Authorities said a driver is facing charges after a woman was killed in a head-on crash in Powhatan County Friday afternoon.

Troopers were called to the two-vehicle crash with a confirmed fatality at Huguenot Trail and Judes Ferry Road at 4:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Keeli Hill with Virginia State Police.

Hill said 19-year-old Jason Talbott, of Powhatan, was driving a Ford F-550 hauling a trailer with a loader on Route 711 when he braked to avoid hitting a car in front of him.

Troopers said Talbott veered left, crossing into the eastbound lanes where he crashed head-on into an SUV driven by 56-year-old Rebecca M. Wolf, of Powhatan.

Wolf, who was wearing her seat belt, died of her injuries at the scene, Hill said.

Talbott had minor injuries, troopers said.

A male passenger in the Ford was not injured, officials said.

Talbott was charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended liscense.

Officials said the crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team and the Safety Division Motor Carrier Unit.
