RICHMOND, Va. -- Police said a woman was critically injured and a man fatally shot himself on Richmond's Southside Sunday afternoon.
Capt. Emmett F. Williams with Richmond Police said officers were called to the 4307 Jefferson Davis Highway for a report of a person shot just before 4:30 p.m.
"Officers located a female who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to her body," Williams said. "She was transported to an area hospital for treatment."
Officials said the 33-year-old woman's injuries that are considered life-threatening, but that she was in stable condition at last check late Sunday.
At the same scene, officers found a man was suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, according to police.
Officials said the 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at 4:36 p.m.
"A firearm was recovered on scene and police are not looking for any suspects related to this incident," Williams said.
No additional details about the relationship between the man and woman, if any, was available at last check Sunday.
