PETERSBURG, Va.-- Petersburg's annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat is canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This event typically draws hundreds of people and the safety of our staff, community partners, and our patrons is of the utmost importance," city officials announced Thursday.
While this Halloween event is canceled, the city says they can't and won't cancel general trick-or-treating on the actual holiday.

However, they are reminding those who are considering traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating that the Virginia Department of Health considers it to be a high risk.
