PETERSBURG, Va. -- A Petersburg man is crediting the rain after winning more than $158,000 from the Virginia Lottery.

Garland Harrison says he was outside when a heavy downpour erupted.

He escaped the bad weather by ducking into Produce Center at 5812 Boydton Plank Road in Petersburg.

While inside the grocery store, Harrison bought a Print ‘n Play Rolling Jackpot ticket.

That ticket won the jackpot of $158,377.

Harrison says he didn't realize he had won big until he got home.

“Wait a minute, this is something big!” Harrison described while examining the ticket.

“It feels good to win,” Harrison said as he claimed his prize.

He said he has no immediate plans for his winnings.

Print ‘n Play Rolling Jackpot is a Virginia-only, instant-win game that has a starting jackpot of $50,000. The jackpot increases with each ticket sold until the jackpot is won.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 240,000.
