PETERSBURG, Va. -- Authorities said a person suffered serious injuries when they were hit by a minivan along a busy Petersburg road Saturday night.

Petersburg Police said just before 7:50 p.m. that officers were in the 3200 block of S. Crater Road "working a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that was struck."

A WTVR CBS 6 crew saw a minivan with significant windshield damage being towed from the scene around 9 p.m.

Southbound traffic was closed for more than an hour, but the road has since reopened, according to police.

No additional details were available at last check.
