Pedestrian in wheelchair killed crossing W. Broad St.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police have identified the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing W. Broad St.

On September 5, just after midnight, Henrico 911 received an emergency call about a pedestrian in a wheelchair hit by a vehicle on W. Broad Street just east of Emerywood Parkway.

Police say that 68-year-old John Krueger was crossing W. Broad Street in his wheelchair after leaving a convenience store. As Krueger crossed into the eastbound lane, he was struck by a Chevrolet sedan while the traffic signal for W. Broad was green.

The driver stopped after the collision and remained on scene until investigators arrived. Krueger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
