HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Just days after a Midlothian neighborhood made national headlines for surprising their beloved UPS driver, another area neighborhood decided theirs deserved some love, too - for all he does for them.
In Hanover, the Pebble Creek community came together to celebrate Ben.
"From him delivering packages we would just start talking and then it just grew," said one resident. "He'll drive by and honk the horn and I'm not even outside but just to say he's there."
Residents say he is always a comforting presence in the neighborhood.
"Before the pandemic we would get together for birthdays," said a second neighbor. " It's just that relationship you don't normally have."
"My son lost his dad back in March and he see's my son out playing with his friends playing whiffle ball and he'll stop and play with the boys and he doesn't know how much that means to my son during this time," said a neighbor. "
Neighbors filled a UPS truck box with cards, money and gift cards.
Ben was greeted with cheers and signs expressing their love and appreciation for him.
"Ben, on behalf of Pebble Creek, we would just like to say thank you for everything you do for our community," said a neighbor. "It's not just delivering packages but its just the little things that you do that you don't realize you do."
The surprise left Ben speechless.
"I don't know what to say, this is nice," said Ben. "But this has been the nicest group of people in a neighborhood that I ever delivered in. Thank you, thank you everyone. Thank you so much."
