RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, and Peter Sarsgaard are coming to Virginia to film Dopesick, eight-episode limited series for Hulu.
"Dopesick will be a revealing look into the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction," an email from the governor's office read. "Dopesick is inspired by the bestselling book 'Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America,' by Virginia author Beth Macy."
Filming will take place this winter in Central Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and Roanoke and follow COVID safety protocols.
“Virginia continues to be a premier production hub for filmmakers seeking an authentic, film-friendly environment and a home away from home,” Virginia Governor Ralph Northam wrote in an email. “It is wonderful to see this story from a Virginia author transformed from page to screen right here in our Commonwealth."
