LOCUST GROVE, Va. -- A 24-year-old Orange County man has been arrested after deputies said he posted on social media that he wanted to kill protesters.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies received multiple reports Wednesday about "a social media post of a user claiming he wanted to burn houses, cars and kill protesters."

Deputies arrested Michael Hanson, of Locust Grove, and charged him with "threat to burn or bomb” and “knowingly communicate a threat to kill or do bodily injury with intent to commit an act of terrorism.”

Hanson, who is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail, is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing Friday.

"No further information will be provided at this time," deputies said.
