Man wounded in Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating after a man was wounded in a shooting on Richmond's Northside Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of St. James Street in the Gilpin Court public housing neighborhood for a report of a person shot just after 1:50 p.m.

"Officers arrived on scene and made contact with an adult male that had an apparent gunshot wound," Lt. Stephen McQuail with Richmond Police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, police said.

There is no word yet on the extent of his injuries.

No suspect information nor additional details were available at last check.
